"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy
mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which
we preach; That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved." Romans
10:8-9. This scripture that the Apostle Paul is referring to
is in Deuteronomy 30:14. ; The word "nigh" means near. The
word of God is near us, it is
not far away where we can't find it. There is some that take
Psalm 119:89 which says, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is
settled in heaven", and try to
say that the Word of God is in Heaven; that we don't have it
here on earth. The word settled means - Placed; established;
determined;
composed; adjusted. So they try to say that the Word of God
is placed in Heaven, but comparing scripture with scripture,
it is obvious that the
more appropriate definition for this usage would be the
other words, established, determined, composed and even
adjusted. The word of God is
definitely established in Heaven, God has said it and it is
not going to change. It is determined in Heaven, God said
what He meant and meant what
He said. It is composed in Heaven, look at II Peter 1:21,
the Holy Ghost moved on Holy men and told them what to
write. And it was even adjusted
in Heaven; Psalm 12:6 says that the Words of God have been
purified seven times. If you study the history of the King
James Bible, it was revised
seven times, and the english language is the seventh
language that the Bible was translated into. That is not
just a coincidence.
But the Bible says that the Word of God is nigh us. Look at
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 "For this commandment which I command
thee this day, it is not
hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in
heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to
heaven, and bring it unto us,
that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the
sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for
us, and bring it unto us,
that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh
unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest
do it." If you will notice,
the Lord says "do it" twice. He is letting us know that we
have no excuse not to do the Word of God because we have it
right in our hand. We can't
say, "Well the Word of God was the originals or the Word of
God is in Heaven so we can't really know what the Word of
God is or what He really
said. That is a bunch of bologny, but that is what some
people believe, or say they believe anyway. The whole issue
is that they do not want to
be accountable to the Word of God because they don't want to
do it. The Lord said in John 12:48, "He that rejecteth me,
and receiveth not my
words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have
spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."
Then in Daniel 7:10 it says, "A fiery stream issued and came
forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto
him, and ten thousand
times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set,
and the books were opened." And Revelation 20:12 says, "And
I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and
another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the
dead were judged out of those
things which were written in the books, according to their
works." There in Daniel and Revelation, it is a good
possibility that the books
referred to are the 66 books of the Bible. If we don't have
the Word of God and can't know what the Word of God really
says, then why are we
going to be judged by it? We are going to be judged by it
because it is near us and we are required to do it.
Until next time, may the Lord bless you.
