"Therefore I
say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall
eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye
shall put on.
Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do
they reap, nor gather into
barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not
much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can
add one cubit unto his stature?
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of
the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they
spin: And yet I say unto
you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like
one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the
field, which to day
is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much
more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no
thought, saying, What shall
we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be
clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:)
for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and
all these things shall be
added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is
the evil thereof." - Matthew 6:25-34 What is the
probably the "biggest" or at least the most common sin among
Christians? WORRY. Let's admit it, we're all guilty of it
probably many times a day. When all the time there is
rest to be found in the Lord when
we trust in Him. Proverbs 3:5&6 says, "Trust in the LORD
with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all thy ways
acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." We worry
about everything under the sun that we can't do anything
about anyway. There in
our text in Matthew 6 the Lord asks, "Which of you by taking
thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" and then later
on He says, "your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these
things." and then again - "O ye of little faith." There at
the first verse, He says, "Take
no thought for your life"; if we could come to realize that
we can trust the Lord with our life not just our soul. He
loves us and as His children
He is obligated to take care of our every need.(Phil. 4:19)
We can trust Him for every thing in our lives; He said in
all our ways acknowledge
Him. That means for our needs, our wants (Luke 11:9-12),
revenge (Romans 12:19), help and delieverance (Psalm
115:11), direction (Prov. 3:5&6) and
so on. How we trust the Lord shows our faith; trusting the
Lord will accomplish some things: Psalm 37:3 - it will
establish you, Psalm 40:3 -
it will cause others to fear and trust in the Lord, Psalm
73:28 - it will give you a constant testimony, Prov. 28:25 -
it will make you fat
spiritually, Prov. 29:25 - it will make you safe. And that
is just to name a few. Well, I hope this little study has
been a blessing to you, it
is an endless study and you would, no doubt, benefit from
studying it further. I want to encourage you to look up the
references given. I will
leave you with this verse: "for whatsoever is not of faith
is sin." Romans 14:23b
Until next
time, may the Lord bless you.
