"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every
one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the
iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6
Romans 3:10-12 - "As it is written, There is none righteous,
no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none
that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become
unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."
Over and over the the Scriptures we see the determination of
man to go his own way. There in Isaiah 53:6 it says we have
all went our own way
and in Romans 3:12, we are all gone out of the way. I am so
glad that the Lord gave us a free will and allows us to
chose whether to go His way or
our own way, but the fact that most people chose their own
way shows just how wicked we really are (Ezek. 36:17) The
Lord is a gentleman, He never
forces anyone to do anything that they do not want to do,
but the consequences for chosing one's own way can be very
harmful. Ezekiel 22:31
says, "Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon
them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their
own way have I recompensed
upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD." And Proverbs 14:14 -
"The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways:
and a good man
shall be satisfied from himself." He is always calling you
and beseecing you to go His way (Isaiah 65:2);but, if you
want to go your own way, the
Lord will sure let you, but you will reap the fruit of that
choice (Prov. 1:31).
Chosing the Lord's way brings rest and blessings. Isaiah
58:13-14 - "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on my
holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the
LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own
ways, nor finding
thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then
shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause
thee to
ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with
the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD
hath spoken it." And
Ezekiel36a:31-33 - "Then shall ye remember your own evil
ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe
yourselves in your own sight
for your iniquities and for your abominations. Not for your
sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you:
be ashamed and confounded
for your own ways, O house of Israel. Thus saith the Lord
GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your
iniquities I will also cause
you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded."
Proverbs 3:5&6 says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine
heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths." If we could just realize
that we know nothing and the
Lord know everything; we could fully rely on Him to direct
us, keep us and bless us. But so many times we think that we
can solve the problem
and try to go our own way then we need the Lord to get us
out of the mess we got ourselves into. Lord, please help us
to trust you and look not to
our own understanding and our own stubborn ways.
Till next time, may the Lord bless you.
