"What is man, that thou art
mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and
hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to
have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all
things under his feet:"
Psalm 8:4-6.
Have you ever thought about how wonderful and amazing it is
that God Almighty would give us the time of day? That He
would even care anything
about us at all? That is an amazing thing and that is what
the Psalmist is voicing in the scripture verses above. "What
is man, that thou are
mindful of him?" What are we that He would create us? He
made us the chief of his earthly creation and gave us the
dominion over the rest of
His creation. What are we that He would love us enough to
draw us to Himself through conviction. The Bible says in
Romans 2:4 that it is the
goodness of God that draweth men to repentance. Just the
fact that He would care enough to show us we are lost and
draw us to salvation shows
how good He really is. What are we that He would forgive us
of our sins? "What is man, that he should be clean? and he
which is born of a woman,
that he should be righteous?" Job 15:14 Do you remember the
guilt and the condemnation you were living under when you
were lost? What are we that
God would lift and remove that from us? God is so good. What
are we that He would continually work in our life after we
are saved, visiting us and
continually working on us. What are we that the Lord would
speak to us through the preaching or through His Word and
reprove us of sins
unconfessed and words of comfort and encouragement when we
need it. What are we that He would try us? Job 7:17-18 says,
"What is man, that thou
shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine
heart upon him? And that thou shouldest visit him every
morning, and try him every
moment?" It is not a light thing to be tried by the Lord, it
is an awesome thing. We think way too much of ourselves
sometimes, so try to
remember, "What is man?" Until next time, may the Lord bless
you.
