Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11

Isn't the Lord worthy? The Bible says over and over again that He is worthy to receive all the praise that we can give Him, and one of the reasons He is worthy is that He would have anything to do with us, wretched as we are. However, according to our text He created us for His own pleasure; that is why we are here, to please God. When you read about the creation in Genesis chapter 1, you read over and over again that God saw that His creation was "good" and in verse 31 after He had made man and woman He saw that it was "very good". Now, I know that since then, the curse came because of sin and marred His creation, but still God takes pleasure in it and in us. Amazing!

First of all, it pleased the Lord to save us: Ephesians 1:5&6 says, Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. It pleased the Lord to bring us into this life and then call us to salvation. Look at Galatians 1:15, But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, the Lord takes great pleasure in saving a sinner, that is what He gave His only begotten Son for; Isaiah 53:10 says, Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. It pleased the Lord to sacrifice His Son so that He might save us. Glory to His name!

Secondly, He takes pleasure in working in us. Phil. 2:13 says, For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. And II Thessalonians 1:11 says, Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Notice that His working is us brings Him glory; He is trying to make us more like the Lord Jesus Christ when He works in us. God the Father was very pleased with the Lord Jesus Christ; numerous times He said This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matt 3:17) or something similar to that. I am so glad that one of these days when He takes me home, His work will be finished in me and I will be like Him for I shall see Him as He is (I John 3:2). But I do not want to fight against and buck His working in me now, because I want to hear the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," (Matt.25:21).

Thirdly, He takes pleasure in those that seek Him and fear Him. Psalm 35:27, Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Psalm 147:11, The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. Psalm 149:4, For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Until next time may the Lord bless you,

Sis. Tanya
