Is There Really Life After Death?

You better believe there is! The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27 - "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement:" According to this verse, everyone will stand before God and be judged after they are dead. Then in Luke 16:19-31 the Bible tells of two different men that died; one went to Hell and the other went to a place called Abraham's bosom which is just another name for Heaven. Both these men were aware of their surroundings and could feel, speak, think, etc. The God that made  us has warned us  in His book that there is certainly life after death.

Now, He also tells us that we must prepare for that life after death while we are still alive here on this earth because there are only two places that we can go when we die - Heaven or Hell. First, lets find out the difference in these two places. Heaven is a place of beauty, rest, peace, joy, and it is the place where God Himself lives. See Revelations 21 & 22 for a complete decription of Heaven.

Hell, contrary to what you may have heard, is not a party place. There are no drugs, alcohol, music, or any of the things that you enjoy now; it is a place where you will burn in fire forever with no water, no light, no relief - nothing but pain. Luke 16:19-31 gives the best description of Hell.

Now, there is only one thing that determines which of these two places you will go when you die. That is whether or not you have been born-again. "What in the world," you might ask, "does 'born-again' mean?" Well, to be born-again simply means that you have repented of being a sinner and have received the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. When you do this you become a Son or Daughter of God and you then will go to Heaven when you die. But if you don't ever repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ then you will die and go to Hell.

Let's explain some of this  from the beginning. The Bible says in Genesis 1 that God created the earth and everything in it. He went on to create humans (Genesis 2:7 & 22) and God only made one rule for them, but  the Devil tempted them and they broke that rule and then they became sinners. The reason that they became sinners is because they disobeyed God's law. Well, then man could no longer come to God without a payment for his sins, because God cannot stand sin. However, He loves us and wants to have a realtionship with us so He sent His only begotten Son (John 3:16) to die and pay the price for our sins so that we can become His children too. The Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and rose from the dead and is alive today. If you can see yourself as a sinner and believe on Him you can be saved today!
