CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY...
HARRY POTTER
OR THE
HOLY POTTER?
Who will you allow to mold your children -
Harry Porter
promoting witchcraft, killing, decapitation,
drinking blood, and suicide -
or the Holy Potter
the giver of life, who sacrificed His own blood for all mankind?
As the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand...
Jeremiah 18:6
Author J.K. Rowling wrote about a fantasy
world; she's not promoting witchcraft or demonism.
J.K. Rowling has a degree in Mythology from Exeter and was a treacher. She
researched witchcraft to make the books accurate. She knows exactly what she's
writing about. She portrays the witches in a positive light ("good witches"),
which deceives us as to their true evil nature and intent. Woe unto them that
call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for
darkness - Isaiah 5:20
It's not all that gruesome.
The Potter books promote a disturbing view of death. An animal is sacrificed in
order to drink its blood. One character is partially decapitated. Harry's
parents are brutally murdered. Harry is the object of repeated murder attempts.
Voldemort exhorts his followers to kill. Suicide is glorified as the ultimate
sacrifice, and death is seen as "no big deal". Dumbledore, one of the
professors, says "Death is just the next great adventure." The Columbine killers
might agree with that.
If it gets children to read, that's all I care about!
So if the schools & libraries handed them Hilter's SS manual, the KKK Handbook,
or a book on how to snort cocaine, you'd let them read that as well? Probably
not! We as responsible parents have an obligation to monitor what our
impressionable children read. A corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit - Matthew
7:17
My kid's a good kid - he's not going to get involved with witchcraft!
Take a good look at the next "Goth" teenager that walks by - or the next drug
addict, alcoholic, or criminal you see on the news. Once upon a time, they were
a sweet 6-year-old, too. Something made them change, and all the psychologists
in the world can't seem to explain it satisfactorily. Voldemort, the evil force
in the Potter movie, says it best: "There have always been those willing to let
me into their hearts and minds." Once the door to spiritual darkness is opened,
your child is vulnerable to spiritually destructive behaviors. For we wrestle
not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against wickedness in high places. -
Ephesians 6:12
It's just a movie; it's just a book.
Would the retail industry spend billions of dollars a year on advertising if it
didn't influence us to change our behavior and habits to aglin with what they're
pitching? A 15-second commercial can have your child clamoring for a Playstation
or Nikes or Pokeman, and you think a 3-hour movie isn't going to influence them?
The are influenced by it, and when something captures their imagination, they
eat, breathe and sleep it.
It's just fantasy; witchcraft isn't real.
Wiccan (witchcraft) is a legally recognized religion by the IRS and the US
military. (Yes, the schools and libraries are pushing a religion by promoting
Potter!) A local Wiccan has said that the practices shown are consistent with
real witchcraft. In an abcNews.com interview, a practicing witch said the Potter
books would help "change the way people feel about [witches]." Witches
themselves say there is indeed power in witchcraft - and God agrees with them!
The power isn't in being able to have chairs fly across the room - the power is
in what it does to your soul. The question is, what is the source of that power?
God says Satan is the true source of that power. Your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour - 1 Peter 5:8
The witchcraft & magic is all done for a good purpose.
Evil done for a good reason is still evil.
...for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no
great thing if his ministries also be transformed as the ministers of
righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. - 2 Corinthians
11:14-15
Harry and his friends are basically good kids.
The children lie, swear, cheat and disobey in order to do what they want. The
adult characters only reinforce the children's own moral relativism and
situational ethics; there is no right and wrong. Keep in mind that Harry and
Voldemort's wands get their power from the same source - yet Harry is supposedly
"good" and Voldemort undeniably evil. As the book series progresses, even the
"good" kids exhibit increased violence, hatred, and anger. There is also more
occultism with overtones of human sacrifice. And this is the condemnation, that
light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because
their deeds were evil. - John 3:19
DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. ASK GOD WHAT HE HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather reprove them. - Ephesians 5:11
I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup
of the Lord, and the cup of devils; ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table,
and of the table of devils. - 1 Corinthians 10:20-21
They which do such things [witchcraft] shall not inherit the kingdom of God -
Galatians 5:21
Let not the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand
up...they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them - Isaiah 47:13-14
Cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. - Romans
13:12
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light,
lest his deeds should be reproved. - John 3:20
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not
us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. - 1 John 4:6
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the
Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the
flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come
in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye
have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. - 1
John 4:1-3
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits
[psychics], and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter; should not a people
seek unto their God? - Isaiah 8:19
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. - James 4:7-8
Be not deceived; God is not mocked - Galatians 6:7
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
- John 14:6
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter
to pass through the fire [human sacifice], or that useth divination [fortune
telling], or an observer of times [astrologer], or an enchanter, or a witch, or
a charmer [deceiver], or a consulter with familiar spirits [psychic] or a
wizard, or a necromancer [communicates with the dead]. For all that do these
things are an abomination unto the Lord, and because of these abominations the
Lord thy God doth drive them out before thee. - Deuteronomy 18:10-12
